The Brief: to produce 6, A2, weather proof interpretation panels for the new Wartime garden at Occombe Farm.
The panels should look like flyers lying on a table, with information displayed in the style of a Wartime leaflet.

Working closely with The Coast & Countryside Trust we sourced relevant imagery from the era from a wide variety of sources. Some from the Imperial War Museum, other from private sources including Ebay.

For the main information we recreated, then crumpled up and scanned in a flyer from the ministry of information to add our text to. Custom illustrations were drawn for the Carbon Footprint board and a whole host of photographs were scanned in, retouched and repaired and then finally added to the composition.

The production of the boards was also unusual. Instead of using PTE boards we worked closely with our Printer, (SWCl)  to design a weather proof, back printed acrylic panel housed in a FSC certified timber frame. Not only did this give us a much higher print quality, it also significantly reduced the costs and also gave us some measure of protection against vandals, should any board be scratched they can be heated and the scratch will “melt”away.

We’re now in the middle of producing another 13 boards for the Trust to highlight the amazing coastline in this part of Devon with some fascinating walks.
